Farm Manager - Berries - Northern Rivers NSW - FILLED BY US!

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person that can manage all aspects of the production system and be involved in on-going growth of the business.

Who will you work for?
After a recent change in ownership, this farming business is now looking to continue to improve and develop their operations through expansion of their current cropping. Located just south-east of Grafton, this 1000 acre asset currently produces field grown berries organically, has highly secure water assets and is primed for improvement and growth. This business is owned by a family who live a couple of hours away, and are looking for a person to manage, maintain and develop all aspects of the farming system.

The role itself?
Reporting to the Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Training, inducting and supervising workers or contractors – coordinating and directing their activities ensuring efficiencies and safety whilst on farm site

  • Managing the “day to day” farm operations and planning works in advanced

  • Leading the full farming cycle (planting to packing) to meet production yields/forecasts and premium organic quality standards

  • Maintaining records for all farm activities

  • Assisting in the auditing processes, across multiple standards

  • Reducing crop waste and managing all farming products, efficiently and effectively and within commercially appropriate parameters

  • Identifying risks to production and implementing strategies to ensure production is not compromised

  • Actively managing farm capital improvement initiatives to ensure business benefits are delivered

  • Installation, maintenance and regular monitoring of irrigation & fertigation systems

  • General maintenance of property and erosion, fencing, slashing, weed and pest control along with other activities as they arise

  • Working with the organic management plan to protect and enhance the Certified Organic certification into perpetuity

  • Ensuring compliance with government regulations and health & safety standards

  • Standard reporting requirements, weekly, monthly, yearly

What kind of person will fit the role?
The successful applicant will have:

  • 5+ years experience in horticultural cropping

  • Wide-ranging irrigation experience

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement farming strategies

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work autonomously

  • Demonstrated experience managing working teams
