The role itself?
Reporting to the Managing Director and as a key decision maker in the business, the successful person will need to:

  • Have an ability to implement manufacturing principles, procedures and foster a lean manufacturing culture

  • Lead, coach and manage a mixed team of up to 30 skilled and unskilled people and ensure that they are reaching line, production and corrective action standards

  • Drive process improvements and change management through best practice application focusing on, line efficiencies, QA and productivity

  • Communicate consistently, concisely and transparently with key staff across the production site; providing and requesting timely information that will lead to you being able to forecast, manage and lead

  • Drive and promote continued training and development of their supervisory staff, team leaders and skilled labour

  • Manage their team in compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, legislation and regulations

  • Support and improve current business processes through continuous performance improvement

  • Ensure team members are safe, productive, inducted & appropriately skilled to do their work

What kind of person will fit the role?
To be considered for this position you must have:

  • 3+ years experience in managing a high intensity food or consumables production, processing or packaging environment

  • Brilliant communication skills, both oral and written, and an ability to build relationships at all levels of the organisation

  • Strong people management experience in the blue collar industry, preferably FMCG

  • Previous experience in implementing LEAN or similar manufacturing principles

  • A person with strong accuracy, attention to detail and analytical skills

  • A confident, calculated professional with an innate ability to self-reflect and assess

  • High level analytical and problem solving abilities with excellent time and organisational management skills
