Research Lead - Crop Protection & Nutrition - Mid West WA
This business is a regionally focused agricultural research and development company focused on the development of products and varieties, field testing and evaluation.
Who will you work for?
A regionally focused independent research agronomy company, based in Geraldton, the central hub of the northern agricultural region of Western Australia. The research team combine attention to detail and rigorous methodology to test new plant breeding material, fertilisers and pesticide chemistry in a variable Mediterranean climate.
The role itself?
The role involves paddock-based work, crop monitoring, soil testing, report writing and building trusted relationships with growers. Your day to day responsibilities will include:
Lead crop protection and herbicide trials; engage with client focused communication
In collaboration with the Managing Director, develop and maintain client relationships
Identify, plan and peg trial sites; support with data collection and assessments
Enter trial data into ARM and other systems (training provided)
Liaise with chemical company R&D teams for best trial outcomes
Extend and present research to grower groups and industry forums
Occasionally support plant breeding trials during peak periods
Play a leadership role in mentoring and guiding research agronomists
Maintain strong relationships with clients and contribute to a culture of trust and service
Stay up-to-date with industry advancements, regulations and best practices
What kind of person will be suitable?
We are looking for a hard working, confident and qualified research agronomist with a passion for technology and agriculture. The perfect person would enjoy establishing strong relationships at the farm gate, with crop technology company decision makers and generally across the industry.
